Your Step-by-Step Skincare Guide (Correct Procedure)
Today, let's discuss a fundamental question - skincare steps.
Many people are confused about the steps - which comes first, serum or moisturizer?
If the steps are wrong, the effectiveness of the skincare products applied will be greatly reduced.
"The Most Detailed Skincare Routine in History"
Daily Skincare
Many women want a quick fix for their skin problems, hoping to achieve radiant skin in just a few days.
Skin problems don't appear overnight, and good skin doesn't happen overnight either.
Therefore, it's crucial to have a good skincare philosophy first.
So, check if your daily skincare routine is correct. If your skincare steps are wrong, even the best products won't be effective.
🔼🔼Skincare is mainly divided into two types: morning skincare and evening skincare.
Morning skincare is for better makeup application, determining the naturalness and longevity of your makeup.
Evening skincare is even more important. It determines the condition of your skin the next day and helps repair skin problems. Don't just wash your face and go to sleep to save time.
🔺Morning Skincare Steps:
Cleansing - Toner - Eye Cream - Serum - Lotion - Sunscreen
🔺Evening Skincare Steps are relatively more complex:
If you're not applying a mask: Makeup Remover - Cleanser - Toner (Toning
Water) - Eye Cream - Serum - Lotion - Moisturizer
If you're applying a mask: Makeup Remover - Cleanser - Toner (Toning
Water) - Mask - After rinsing face, Toner (Toning Water) - Eye
Cream - Serum - Lotion - Moisturizer
Because applying a layer of toner or mist before a mask can promote
mask absorption.
Let's explain each step in order according to the above process:
❶Makeup Remover
Makeup removal is essential. Even if you haven't applied makeup and only used primer and sunscreen, it's still recommended to remove makeup.
2. Cleansing
Once in the morning and once at night, twice a day with cleanser to help wash away daily dust and residual makeup remover (I'm lazy and use an all-in-one makeup remover and cleanser. My favorite is not only all-in-one but also removes blackheads – a must-have for lazy people, haha). People with dry skin can wash their face with plain water every other day.
★Correct Method
①First type of cleanser: self-foaming
Wash your hands thoroughly. Apply to a dry face with dry hands. Wait ten to fifteen seconds for it to foam up, then gently massage areas with heavier makeup and around the nose to remove blackheads. Rinse with lukewarm water.
②Second type of facial cleanser
Wash your hands thoroughly. First, wash your face with plain water. Squeeze the cleanser onto your hands and rub them together to create a rich lather (or use a foaming net to create lather). Apply to your face and massage for one minute, then rinse with lukewarm water. Ideally, wash your face within two minutes.❷After cleansing, pores are open, which is the best time to apply skincare products.
Toner that mainly controls oil is called clarifying toner. (For example: Refreshing and purifying
softening toner)
Toner that mainly moisturizes is called hydrating toner. (For example: essence water
+ skin activating essence)
Toners also come in refreshing and viscous textures.
Viscous toners are suitable for patting with hands or wiping with cotton pads; (Skin activating essence)
For refreshing toners, apply with a cotton pad for three minutes (essence water).
Many ladies like to pat toner with their hands, but using a cotton pad is usually more effective. If you're doing a hydrating mask, I recommend using Unicharm cotton pads as they save water (not all toners are suitable for hydrating masks).
❸Masks
Many fairies share my habit of hoarding many different brands and types of masks to see which one works best.
Of course, masks shouldn't be used every day, as that would overload the skin with nutrients. Fairies might ask why celebrities use masks daily and still have such good skin. When celebrities work, their makeup is very heavy and damaging to the skin, so their skin needs a lot of nourishment. However, for us ordinary people who wear lighter makeup, it's not suitable to use masks every day.
★Mask Tips
It is recommended to alternate between purely hydrating masks and functional masks.
Alternate between sheet masks, cleansing masks, and hydrating masks to allow the skin to absorb better and achieve optimal results.
Note: Except for sleeping masks, all other sheet masks need to be rinsed off. This is because the high concentration of nutrients in masks can cause breakouts if not rinsed properly.
❹Eye Cream
Fairies in their twenties should start using eye cream. If you're twenty-five and fine lines are starting to appear, then you're late. The skin around the eyes is the most prone to aging on the entire face, especially with young people nowadays staying up late, which further accelerates eye aging.
It's not necessary to use an expensive one, but it must be a good one, as the area around the eyes is so delicate. You can be flexible with eye cream: use a hydrating one in the morning and a repairing one at night.
❺Serum
The serum step is very important. Hydration, anti-aging, whitening, and repair all require the help of a serum. However, you should choose a serum based on your needs, skin condition, and age.
★How to choose a serum
Before age 20, focus on hydration.
Around age 22, strengthen basal layer repair.
Around age 25, increase skin antioxidant protection.
Around age 28, skin collagen is severely lost, so focus on anti-aging.
It is recommended to start anti-aging around the age of twenty-five.
❻Lotion/Moisturizer
Many fairies are reluctant to use moisturizer and lotion, finding them troublesome and sticky.
However, if you only use toner and serum without lotion or moisturizer, all the moisture you've applied will easily be lost.
For example, a girl whose face gets oily easily and has an oil-water imbalance was afraid of using lotion because she thought it would make her skin even oilier. However, after using lotion, her facial oiliness actually improved.
❼Sunscreen
The most crucial step is SUNSCREEN!
Many fairies are basically unaware of the importance of sunscreen!
They spend thousands on toners, lotions, serums, and moisturizers, but they don't use sunscreen. They're diligent with masks, but they just WON'T use sunscreen!
Countless skincare experts and dermatologists emphasize the damage UV rays cause to the skin and the importance of sunscreen.
In short, if you don't wear sunscreen, everything else is pointless.
Should you wear sunscreen in every season?
Yes, you should wear sunscreen regardless of the season or weather.
You might not see the difference immediately, but in a few years, your skin will show a significant difference.
★When should you apply sunscreen?
Many fairies are asking when to apply sunscreen?
After applying toner and lotion, you should apply sunscreen, then primer or BB cream before sunscreen! There's a difference between dedicated sunscreens and the SPF in cosmetics. It's best to apply a layer of sunscreen spray after all your makeup.
❽Exfoliation
Regular exfoliation is very important.
Once to twice a week is enough. Try to use gentle products.
There are also exfoliating cleansers with beads that automatically foam up. These can be used daily. Although they exfoliate, the foam provides a buffer that won't harm the skin. Massaging around the nose can remove blackheads.
After exfoliating, your skin will be more receptive to absorbing toner, lotion, and serum.
So, regular exfoliation is also very important.
Having a good skincare routine and method
will also improve the condition of your skin.
